Seán McLoughlin

Dr Seán McLoughlin uses fieldwork, in-depth interviews and documentary analysis to better understand the dynamics of Islam and Muslim culture, politics and society in contexts of contemporary migration, diaspora and transnationalism. He has worked mainly with South Asian heritage British Muslim communities.

During 2013-14 Seán is a British Academy Mid-Career Fellow, researching British Muslim pilgrims’ experiences of the Hajj. This builds upon an AHRC-funded collaboration with the British Museum to support its very successful 2012 exhibition, Hajj: Journey to the Heart of Islam.
